North Minor B Hurling
Well done to our minor hurlers who triumphed over Borrisokane tonight in a full blooded encounter in Kilcolman with a winning score line of 2-16 to 1-13.
We began in whirlwind fashion with a fine point from play by Andy Dunne after less than two minutes. We continued that run of dominance and lead at the fifteen minute mark by 1-5 to 0-1. The scores were from Andy Dunne 1-4 and Pat Woods 0-1.
Borrisokane to their credit launched a remarkable comeback scoring 1-5 for the remainder of the half. Burgess worryingly, only managing one more score for the half, an Andy Dunne free, leaving the match tied 1-6 each at half time.
The second half started brightly for the home side with Andy Dunne once again pointing from a free inside a minute. It was tit for tat thereafter with another fine point from play by Paidi Gill when suddenly Keith Nealon had the Borrisokane net billowing and the matched ramped up in intensity.
Borrisokane once more hit a purple patch and had the game tied at the 42 minute mark with a score line of 2-8 to 1-11.
Andy Dunne with two points and Paidi Gill with another saw Burgess`s lead restored to three points with a quarter of an hour left to play.
Burgess managed to maintain and build on their lead for the remainder of what became a fairly fractious half of hurling.
The final score was 2-16 to 1-13.
Well done to players and management for producing a fine evening’s entertainment of high tempo hurling.
Burgess scorers: Andy Dunne 1-10(0-7f), Pat Woods 0-2, Paidi Gill 0-2, Keith Nealon 1-0, Bill O’Flaherty 0-1, Conor Gill 0-1.
Well done to our u14’s who had a comprehensive 2-13 to 0-1 win over Portroe on Wednesday night last. Well done to the players and management. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations to Willie Walsh who was the lucky winner of a car in the Tipperary draw.
Lost and Found
A considerable amount of lost clothing and gear has accumulated at the complex, both adult and juvenile, some of which has been there for a long period of time. If you believe any of these items are yours please approach any club officer or call to Kilcolman to collect them as soon as possible. The decision has been made to donate any unclaimed items to charity shops in two weeks.
Junior A hurling North Championship Rd 1
Our junior A’s dug deep to get a hard fought win against Lorrha on Saturday evening last. Our cause wasn’t helped by some confusion over the time and day of the fixture which saw us scraping together the bare 15 before starting 20 minutes late. Lorrha played with the wind in the first half and went in at the break a point up – 1-7 to 1-6.
We did well in the end to pull through hitting 1-1 in the last 3 minutes to secure the victory after Lorrha had scored an equalising goal a minute beforehand. Well done to the lads who secured the win on a final scoreline of 3-12 to 2-11. Special mention to the0 walking wounded who answered the call and donned the jersey when numbers were low.
Our team and scorers were: 1. Brian Sherlock, 2. Kevin McDonnell, 3. Sean Flynn (Captain), 4. Willie Ryan, 5. Thomas Walsh (0-1), 6. Padraig McDonnell, 7. Brian Tucker, 8. Kieran Ryan (0-2), 9. Tony Hogan (0-1), 10. Andy Dunne (2-2; 0-1 from a free), 11. Fergal McDonnell (0-2), 12. Tadhg O’Halloran (0-1), 13. Garrett Howard (1-0), 14. Colm O’Brien (0-1), 15. Eoin Fogarty.
