Burgess 1-17 Toomevara 1-14 in Toomevara 5th April 2014

Junior A North Tipp League 2014

The home side were first on the scoreboard after a mere 30 seconds of play. Burgess soon equalised with a Keith Nealon 65. Keith was on hand 2 minutes later to put us a point ahead with a fine point from play.

With 15 minutes elapsed we were 6 points to 4 up thanks to scores by Keith Nealon, Garrett Howard, Declan O’Donohue and Tony Gleeson. Points by Nealon, Paidi Gill and an absolute monster by Tadgh O’Halloran saw us in at half time deservedly leading 13 points to 8.

As conditions worsened in the second half Toomevara started the better and after a well worked goal they had our lead reduced to 1 point with score reading 0-15 to 1-11 after 7 minutes  elapsed. Both of our scores to this point coming from Keith Nealon frees. Toome’s good spell continued and by the 46th minute they had the lead with the score reading 1-13 to 0-15.

The rot was soon stopped by a moment of quick thinking brilliance from Keith Nealon who found the net with a close in free before the Toomevara defence had time to set themselves. More points from the ever accurate Nealon saw us defending a 3 point lead as Toomevara pressed hard for an equalising goal. Our defence held out however and we ran out deserving winners on a final score of 1-17 to 1-13.
