Burgess GAA notes 28th April 2014

Senior Hurling: Well done to our senior  hurlers who against the odds dragged a richly deserved draw from their county championship tie against Borrisoleigh in McDonagh Park Nenagh. Junior A hurling: Our Junior A hurlers face the might of Knockshegowna in the North Junior A league on Friday night coming in Kilcolman at 7:30. The lads would really appreciate as much support as possible on the night in this tough fixture. U14: Hard luck to a very young and depleted u14 team who put up a very spirited display in the second half versus Borrisoleigh last Wednesday evening in Kilcoleman. Their final game is on this Wednesday, 30th April versus Kilruane in Cloughjordan.

u12 football:

Well done to the Burgess under 12 football who beat Ballinahinch in a hard fought game on Friday evening. Ballinahinch started the stronger putting 2 points on the board in the opening 10 mins. Then a great point from Jason Quigley and a goal from Cormac Mc Auliff put Burgess in front but Ballinahinch responded well with a goal and a point to finish the half leading 1-3 to 1-1.
The second half was all burgess. A goal midway by Aaron Sharkey was to be the only score in the second half by either team. Finishing Burgess 2-1 Ballinahinch 1-3. A great win from a very resilient Burgess team with a never say die attitude. Burgess now through to the North Final against Lorrha on Friday week. Well Done to all involved.

Well done: Congratulations to Jack O Keefee who received an award from Pat O Flaherty for winning 2013 all Ireland last Friday night at the handball presentation evening in Kilcoleman. Last Man Standing: We are now down to the last four in the clubs last man standing competition in support of the Senior hurlers training fund. We would ask the remaining players to get their selections in as early as possible for the coming weeks fixtures.
