Message of condolence from Juvenile chairman Mike Slattery:
On behalf of Burgess Juvenile GAA club, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the late Dermot Hogan.
Though proud to claim him as one of our own,we were never left in any doubt as to where his true allegiances lay. Tragically,but perhaps fittingly, he died in that place he loved to call home, surrounded by those who mattered the most.

The Burgess GAA club, it’s players, officers and supporters, extend their deepest sympathies to the Hogan family for their tragic loss. Dermot’s family are in our thoughts and prayers.
We face Drom&Inch in our final group game of the county senior hurling championship in Dolla on Sunday 3rd of August at 12pm. We must get a result in this game guarantee progression out of the group. All support is greatly appreciated.
Junior A hurling:
Our junior A hurlers face Silvermines on Monday 4th of August at 2pm in a venue yet to be confirmed at the time of writing. Please see the fixture list here for further details.
There was no winner of last weeks Jackpot. The numbers drawn were 2, 19, 24 & 29. This weeks Draw was in Larkin’s, Garrykennedy on 28th July.
The Jackpot was at an all time high of €9,800! Next weeks draw will be in Molly Bán’s on Bank Holiday Monday the 4th August. Good Luck & thank you for your continued support.

The Burgess GAA club would like to offer our condolences on behalf of the management, players and supporters to the Hogan family on the tragic death of Dermot Hogan. He will be sadly missed. Funeral arrangements are as follows; reposing from his home the Heath, Roscrea from 4-8 tomorrow (Saturday 26th) removal from his home Sunday 27th at 12.30 mass in st. Itas church Coolderry at 1pm followed by burial in Dungar cemetery. House private Sunday morning please.
All, we are meeting at Pat Carroll’s house at half 3 today, Sat 26th, to go down to the funeral, the club will form part of the guard of honour tomorrow meeting at the church in Coolderry at 12 noon wearing club tee shirts

Recorded a great victory in the quarter final against Borrioskane in Kilcoleman. This earned them a place in the semi final against Slivermines which took place on Friday evening in Dolla. This was a close contest in the first half with Burgess trailing only by 2 points at half time. Slivermines dominated the second half to win the game. Thanks to all the players, trainers and supporters for all the enjoyable games throughout the summer.
Burgess were narrowly defeated by Newport Gales last Wednesday evening in Kilcoleman. Their next fixture is away to Ballina on Wednesday 23rd at 6.30. They are also due to play Portroe this week please check out the fixture listings and the club social media for further details.
Our u16’s were due to play Portroe on Monday 21st. Please see North Tipp Juvenile notes for results.
Our minor hurlers are out next on Thursday 24th of July at 7pm in Nenagh against Kildangan.
There was no winner of Monday the 14th’s Lotto Draw jackpot. The numbers drawn were 9,13,15 &b21. The three €40 winners on the night were: Pat Coffey,Boolagloss: J.J.J O’Callaghan,Ardcroney: Peg Hurley, Carrigmadden: This week’s draw took place in Barry’s, Newtown, for a jackpot of €9,650.

Our senior Hurlers were in hard luck against Clonoulty- Rossmore in the final of the Dr. Fogarty senior league on Sunday last where the went down 2-14 to 2-16. We battled hard but were pipped by two points in match that we could have easily won . We would like to that the lads for their efforts in the league campaign thus far and wish them the best of luck in the North and County championships.
Junior A Hurling:
The Junior A’s wrested a draw from the jaws of defeated on Friday last in the North championship when they stunned Roscrea by scoring 2-1 in the last five minutes to secure the draw. Well done lads!
Our minors were in hard luck on Wednesday last to have been beaten by two points, 1-14 to 1-16, By Portroe in the first round of the championship. The lads next play Shannon Rovers Gaels on Thursday 17th of July in Cloughjordan at 7pm.
