Burgess GAA Notes 2nd March 2015

Senior Hurling:

Our senior challenge cup fixture against Kilruane fell victim to the bad weather at the weekend with the pitch judged to be unplayable 20 minutes before throw in. the match has been provisionally re-fixed for 4pm next Saturday in Kilcolman. Please check the fixtures section here and check the clubs social media pages for late updates and changes.

The draw for the North Senior Hurling championship took place last Friday night and bizarrely we have been drawn against Kilruane in the first round of this competition also. This means that we will meet Kilruane at least three times in Senior hurling this year which must be some kind of record.

Club Membership:

Club membership falls due at this time and the rates for membership are as follows:  Adult Players €30, Student and non-playing members €20. The rate for adult players including Gym membership  is €100, students and non-playing members including gym membership is €90. Maria Murray or any club officer can be contacted about renewing or taking up your membership. A registration night will be organised in the near future. Details of which will follow soon.

Junior A Hurling:

The draw for the North junior A championship also took place last Friday night and we find ourselves grouped with Kildangan, Kilruane , Nenagh and Silvermines. We will have a bye in the first round and no fixtures are confirmed as of yet.

Little All Stars:

The final Little All Stars morning took place on Saturday last in Kilcolman with the presentation of shirts and certificates to the children who took part. We would like to thank the parents and children who helped make the events such a success. The kids were a credit to their family’s and we look forward to seeing them up in the field for years to come. We would also like to thank the organisers and coaches who gave up their time to this enterprise such a success.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday 23rd of Februarys jackpot. The numbers drawn were 8,15,20 & 29. 3x40euro winners were Noreen Treacy, Clondalkin: O’Dwyer family, Newtown: Michael Kyne, Ballymoylan. This week’s draw was held in Reidy’s for a jackpot of 4,650euro.Thanks to everyone for your continued support.

Bon Voyage:

We would like to wish John O’Dwyer from Pallas the very of luck as he departs on his travels. He will be sorely missed from the Burgess defence this year.

Mouse Race Night:

A mouse race night fund raiser will take place in Reidy’s Newtown in aid of Youghalarra National School on Saturday 14th of March. It promises to be a great night and is a very worthy cause. Please come and support this effort to raise funds for the children of the Parish.
