Pre-match huddle – u16 Challenge

Senior Hurling:

Our senior hurler’s next outing in the county championship will be on Saturday 25th April at 6:30 in Dolla. Given the results from the opening round of games we must get something from this game. All support is greatly appreciated. As is usual please check the fixtures page of the Guardian and the clubs social media for any late fixture changes.

Hard luck to the Burgess U16 football team who were beaten by a strong Moneygall / Clonakenny team in Moneygall on Monday 6th April.

U14:

Well done to the Burgess U14 football team who defeated Moneygall / Clonakenny on a score line of Burgess 2-03 to Moneygall / Clonakenny 1-04 on Wednesday 8th of April last. This was a great performance as we only had 13 players for most of the first half and were trailing by 2 points at half time. Burgess, now fielding 15 players for the second half, started to dominate the game and went ahead after a well taken goal by Jack O’Keeffe. Moneygall / Clonakenny responded with a goal and a point leaving Burgess with an uphill battle. Their never say die attitude and a great team work was rewarded with a goal finished off by Aaron Sharkey to put Burgess back in the running. Excellent points by Sean Dunne, Aaron Sharkey and Jack O’Keeffe secured the victory for Burgess. Well done to all the team and management.

Club  Lotto:

There were two winners of the lotto jackpot on Monday 5th of April. Billy Ducie, Curraghtemple and Agnes Mulqueen, Castlecranna were the lucky winners. Each will receive €2,700. The lucky numbers drawn were 4,7,11 & 13. This week’s draw was held in Larkin’s for a jackpot of €3,000.

The Club Lotto AGM will take place on April 23rd at 8pm in Kilcolman. All are welcome.

Wedding Bells:

Congratulations to two former Burgess stalwarts who both tied the knot this weekend past. Best wishes to Keelan Howard who took the plunge in faraway Australia and to Tony Scroope who kept things a little more local marrying Portroe girl Antonia Shouldice. Interestingly Antonia is the third Shouldice sister to marry into the Burgess parish. We would like to wish both couples long and happy lives together.
