Senior Hurling:   

 
After a long lay off our senior hurlers are back in competitive action on Sunday next at 4pm in Kilcolman when the begin their league campaign against near neighbours Ballina. All support is greatly appreciated.
Club Lotto:
There was no winner of last week’s draw held in Reidy’s, Newtown. The numbers drawn were 1, 3, 8 & 28. This week’s draw was held in Barry’s, Newtown. The Jackpot was €6,150. Next week’s Draw will be in Molly Ban’s, Nenagh on Monday 7th March. Best of luck and thank you for your continued support. Tickets €2 each. Play today
Little All stars:
Following on from the recent success of our little all star initiative a number of parents have continued with the 10am Saturday morning sessions for junior and senior infants. All are welcome to attend and any parent who wish to help would be greatly appreciated.

We are offering bespoke Burgess branded mugs and “C’mon Burgess” badge combos from MrSportsGift for €10 (see Facebook or the club website for pictures). The proceeds of the sales of these items will help fund our juvenile club for what promises to be very busy and expensive Feile na Gael year. Club and gym membership rates are unchanged from last year and are as follows:Club membership falls due at this time and the rates are as follows: Adult Players €30, Student and non-playing members €20. Adult players with Gym membership €100, students and non-playing members €90. 
Camogie Dinner Dance:

The camogie club have asked us to let you know that the Burgess-Duharra dinner dance will take place on Saturday March 12th in the Abbey Court Hotel @ 8pm. Tickets are €25. Please contact any committee member or Burgess-Duharra Camogie Club Facebook page for details.

The Philip Kerr coaching seminar is on this Saturday, 5th March at 9.30am. It promises the be really interesting – he’s a top coach and it’s a great opportunity for all our coaches and mentors to build their skills and capabilities.

Senior Hurling:
 

The draws for the opening fixtures of the county senior league and championships were made last Monday evening. We will play the first game of our championship group against Moyne Templetouhey at a time, date and venue to be confirmed. In the challenge league cup we have been drawn against our near neighbours Ballina and that game is hoped to be played on the weekend of the 5th/6th of March but no later than the 13th of March. Please check the Guardians fixture list and the club’s social media for fixture updates.

Our last Little All Stars morning of 2016 was held on Saturday last in Kilcoleman. This initiative was once again a great success and we would like to thank Fergal McDonnell for being the driving force behind it. We would also like take this opportunity to thank all of players who gave freely of their time to make this event such a success with the children of the parish.

Gym and Club membership:

A registration night will be held on Tuesday night before training for all senior players.

Club and gym membership rates are unchanged from last year and are as follows:

Juvenile A.G.M.

Our AGM was held on Friday 29th January, thanks to all who attended this meeting.  The officers for the current year are as follows:

Chairperson:  Mikey Slattery  Vice-Chairperson: Derek Sharkey , Secretary : Eimear O’Keeffe, Treasurer : Catriona O’Sullivan , PRO: Patricia Gibson.

Juvenile Registration Night:

Burgess Juvenile Club are holding their registration night on Wednesday 3rd February at 7pm in Kilcoleman.  The fee is year is €30 per person or €60 per family. This also includes a ticket for the National Club Draw.

Gaeltacht Scholarships 2016:

From 2016 the following will be the procedure for obtaining a Gaeltacht Scholarship from Coiste Chontae Thiobraid Árann;

 

  1. Students should immediately book a course directly from one of the three nominated Munster Irish Colleges on the application Form. This should be done asap as popular dates are booked out quickly.
  1. Students wishing to secure a scholarship from Tipperary GAA should complete the attached application form and submit it through their own local GAA Club.
  1. The secretary of the GAA Club must sign the form and attach a reference letter supporting the applicant’s application before returning it to the Co Rúnaí.
  1. Interviews for the scholarships will be held in Lár na Páirce before the end of February to establish each candidates suitability.
  1. Once the student is notified that they have been successful they must secure a receipt for their full fee payment from the Irish College where they have registered.
  1. Once this receipt is received by the Co Rúnaí a cheque for €300 will be posted out directly to the students home.

The Closing date for the receipt of Gaeltacht Scholarship Applications isSun Feb 14th 2016.

 

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday nights Club Lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 11, 12, 15 & 22. The 3x €40 winners were, Burgess Duharra Camogie Club, Mary/christine Kennedy Barbaha and Josephine Ryan Ballyhisky. The sellers prize went to John O’Donoghue. This weeks draw took place in Reidy’s Newtown for a jackpot of €5,550! Thanks to all for your continued support and the best of luck in next weeks draw.
