Our senior hurlers drew their second group game of the county championship against Toomevara at the weekend with the final score treading Burgess 1-11 Toome 0-14. We looked to have the game firmly in our grasp when Bill O’Flaherty goaled in the 6th minute of the second half but alas our failure to convert chances into scores was our undoing and Toome snatched a late equaliser to draw the game.
Our next and final game in the group will be against Holycross, mostly likely on the weekend of the 7th/8th of May. This will be a winner takes all encounter do all support would be greatly appreciated.
Our u12’s were beaten away to Toome on the North B football semi-final on Saturday last. Hard luck to the lads who launched a valiant comeback in the second half but unfortunately ran out of time. The final score read Burgess 2-3 Toome 3-5. Best of luck to the Toome boys in the North final.
Mixed results for our u14B footballers, they recorded a fine 2-10 to 1-3 away win over Borrisokane in their playoff game but four days later they were narrowly beaten 1-9 to 1-5 away to Kiladangan.
Thanks to Kiladangan who hosted a blitz in Puckane on Saturday morning. Our young hurlers had two teams on the go and a fine mornings hurling was had by all.
