Burgess GAA Notes 23rd May 2016

Senior Hurling:
Our senior hurlers won their league cup quarter final against Thurles Sarsfields on Friday last 2-15 to 0-13. Though neither team was at full championship strength the large crowd in attendance were treated to a fine fast paced game of hurling.

We play Moneygall in the first round of the north championship in Dolla on Sunday May 29th at 3:30pm. This is a straight knockout game so all support is greatly appreciated.

Junior A hurling:

Our juniors qualified for the North Junior A league final on Saturday last after a comprehensive 4-22 to 0-9 win over Knockshegowna. We will face Kiladangan in the final who overcame Nenagh Eire Og in a sterner test after extra time. Please keep an eye on the guardian fixtures section and the club’s social media for further information on the final.

U8 & u6 hurling:

Our under sixes and eights travelled to Shalee on Friday evening where they played a number of friendly games. Our boys had a great time and we would like to thank the Ballinahinch club for their hospitality.

We extend our best wishes to Burgess hurler Brian Tucker and his new wife Claire who were married at the weekend. We wish them every happiness together.

Well done to Eoin Grace who represented Burgess NS in the primary game during Sunday’s Munster championship clash between Tipperary and Cork. And finally well to the Tipp senior hurlers and our own Donagh Maher on their great victory over Cork.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Minday nights jackpot. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 9 & 25. The 3 x €40 winners were Eoin Mulcahy c/o Ballywilliam co-op, Rebecca Reidy Newtown & Dave McAuliffe Pallasderg. Sellers prize John Grace. This weeks draw was in Reidy’s for a jackpot of €7,950! Best of luck to all and thank you for your continued support.
