Burgess GAA Notes 25th June 2018

Senior Hurling;

Our senior hurlers enjoyed an emphatic win over Newport in Kilcolman on Friday evening last. Our 4-21 to 1-15 win sees us unbeaten in our group and through to the division 2 semi-final. We go through as group runners up by virtue of our two draws.

Junior A Hurling:

Our postponed game against Knockshegowna took place on Monday June 25TH in Toomevara at 8pm. A late scoring flurry rescued the game and gave us a 1-14 to 1-11 win. We’ve a quick turnaround then for Friday June 29ths game v Roscrea in Toomevara at 7:30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

U21 sevens tournament:

Unfortunately due to a fixtures log jamb we were unable to play in the Jim Egan memorial tournament in Puckane last weekend.

Walking Group:

Our walkers are in full swing at the moment, taking trips all around north Tipp and beyond. Well done to Pat Delaney and co. on making this a real success. The group are always looking for new members to join them every Thursday evening. If you would like to join them please contact Pat Delaney or Fergal McDonnell (085 7254855)

Mothers and Others:

The girls are starting back to football training on Monday nights at 7pm in Kilcolman. This team is for any ladies who would like to train casually with a team and have a bit of fun. ALL are welcome. Contact 085 7254855 if you wish to join in.

Zumba Classes:

Zumba takes place each Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30 in Kilcolman and classes are €6 pay as you go!

The Chaser:

As part of the clubs drive to finance the new juvenile hurling wall and astro surface we are proud to announce that in association with Pallas marketing that we will be the first club ever to hold the chaser this coming October in the Abbey Court Hotel. Watch out for further updates on the clubs social media.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday nights club lotto. The numbers drawn were 6,10,25 & 27. The lucky dip winners were, Francie Walsh Nenagh, Cathal McGrath Barnakay and Alan Kelly Portroe. The seller’s prize went to Marion Carroll. This week’s draw took place in D Pallas Bar for a Jackpot of €2,400.

Junior A Hurling:

Our game against Knockshegowna was postponed due to a bereavement in the knockshe club. Our next game is against Roscrea on Friday June 29th at 7:30pm in Toomevara.

U12 hurling:

Our u12 teams had mixed results last week with the Green team enjoying a good win over Borrisokane and the gold suffering an unlucky loss to Kiladangan.

U21 sevens tournament:

We have entered a team in Kiladangans Jim Egan Memorial U21 Sevens Hurling tournament which will take place on Saturday 23rd of June in Puckane at 1pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

Imelda Hogan was presented with her winning lotto cheque for €6,650 in Reidys at last Monday nights lotto draw. A great evening was had by all and thanks to Bobby Reidy for hosting us. Enjoy your winnings Imelda!

There was no winner of last Monday nights club lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 9, 14 & 23. The €40 lucky dip winners were Sean Kelly c/o Arrabawn, Tim/Anne Ryan Bawn and Annette Ryan Mill Rd. Johnny Grace won the sellers prize. This weeks draw took place in Barry’s for a Jackpot of €2,300.

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors survived a second half comeback from Kilruane after a fine first half performance gave us a fine 2-8 to 0-6 lead at half time. We managed to hold on for a four point win in our opening game of the north championship. Well done to all. Next up is Knockshegowna this Saturday coming in Portroe. Please keep an eye on The Guardian fixtures and the club social media for further information.

U14 hurling:

Our u14’s scored a good win over Kiladangan in Kilcoleman last Wednesday evening. Well done to all.

U12 hurling:

Our u12 teams suffered two losses during the week to Kilruane (gold) and Kildadangan (green) hard look lads.
