Match report – County Senior League Burgess v Mullinahone

County Senior League 8th March 2020 Kilcoleman

Burgess 1-13 Mullinahone 0-15

Burgess eked out a one point win over Mullinahone in a game played in very tough conditions. Strong wind and frequent showers of hail and rain added to the difficulties for the players for whom underfoot conditions were very testing to say the least. Stephen Murray’s Goal after 2 minutes to open the Burgess account was worth the spin up to Kilcoleman alone. Burgess demonstrated lovely interplay in the lead up to it with a delightfully floated pass from Conor Gill to pick out Stephen who burned the Mullinahone defense with lightening pace and rifled an unstoppable shot into the net. A minor bout of handbags 5 mins after half time saw both sides reduced to 14 men with Pat Wood seeing red for the home side. Stephen Murray top scored for Burgess with 1-7, 1-3 of which came from play on very difficult day for accurate shooting. Burgess will be delighted to get off to a winning start for the 2020 season.

Team and scorers: Ronan Tucker, Pat Woods, Tony Hogan, Will Fogarty , Kieran Ryan, Donagh Maher(0-1), Tadhg O’Halloran, Keith Nealon, Jack O’Flaherty, Johnny Mulqueen (0-1), Willie Ryan, Stephen Murray(1-7,0-3f), Sean Dunne, Conor Gill, Stephen Kirwan(0-2). This proved to be a tough encounter with Aidan losing the first game 21-15. Aidan recovered well and took the second game 21-11 to force a tie break which he won emphatically, 11-0.
