Well done to our seniors who had a comprehensive 1-21 to 0-10 win in the north championship on Sunday last. This win was especially impressive considering to amount of players that were unavailable. We would like to congratulate on of those unavailable players, Niall McGrath, who took off out foreign to get engaged at the weekend.
Our next county game will be against Mullinahone on Saturday May 27th at 2pm in Templemore.

Junior A Hurling:
Our juniors will take on Knockshegowna on Saturday May 13th in Kilcolman at 6.30pm in the North League. This has been changed from the advertised 7pm to 6.30pm.
u16 Football:
Hard luck to the U16s tonight who went down fighting against a strong Ballina team in the North Final. Great rally in the second half to respond to those Ballina goals. Another well turned out team from Burgess. They are a great credit to the parish and the lads over them.
Congratulations & best of luck to the Ballina GAA lads in the county championship.

The Walking Group will meet as usual at 7pm this Thursday in Kilcolman and travel on to Coum for a hill walk. Again, all are welcome.
Striking Video:
With our minor and underage hurlers in mind we have created this instructional video on striking (the ball!). We would urge all of our players and their parents alike to take a look at the footage and take on board some the tips shown.
And who better to demonstrate striking but current senior hurler and one of the best strikers of the ball you’re likely see, our very own Stephen Murray.
We would like to thank Declan Kirwan, whose brainchild this project this is, for his vision and for putting the work into producing this video. We would also like to thank Fergal McDonnell for his input and for doing such a professional job with the editing. Finally thanks to Stephen Murray and Stephen Kirwan who did so well in front of the
cameras.

Burgess GAA Notes 25th January 2016

Nenagh Guardian 2016 Sports Awards:

The inaugural Nenagh Guardian Sports awards were held on Friday night last in the Abbey Court hotel and the first recipient of the Guardians Hall Of fame Award was our own Donie Nealon. The night itself was a was ran in as professional manner as you could imagine and was a credit to Shane Brophy and all at The Nenagh Guardian. Donie’s family, friends along with a sizeable Burgess and Burgess Duharra contingent were there to show their support for our most famous son.
It was fitting that the first inductee to the Guardians Hall of Fame was Donie, his extraordinary sporting achievements and formidable body of work off the field made an awe inspiring list. We in Burgess GAA extend our congratulations to Donie, the true definition of a Hall of Famer.
We would also like to congratulate the Camogie Club who the monthly award winner for October. A fitting recognition for their four in a row of senior county Camogie titles.
