Burgess GAA Notes 12th February 2018

Club lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday night’s lotto jackpot. The Numbers drawn were 4, 6, 13 & 17. He Lucky dip winners were Tim and Josie Frawley Burgess, Marguerite Ryan c/o Timmy Hogan, Hall Hogan Pallasmore. The Sellers prize went to Damien O’Brien. This weeks draw was in Barrys for a Jackpot of €5,250.

Senior Fixtures:

Our opening game of the north championship has been fixed for Sunday April 1st. Time and venue to be confirmed.

The draw has also been made for the 2018 county senior hurling league and we have been drawn in division 2 group 1 with Kilruane, JK Brackens, Holycross, Lorrha and Newport.

We will face JK Brackens in the first round.

Group 2 of Division 2 contains Templederry, Silvermines, Ballingarry, Moycarkey, Loughmore and Killenaule.

Junior A:

Our opening game of the Junior A league is fixed for Sunday March 18th against Newport.

Burgess GAA Notes February 5th 2018

Little all-stars:

Little all-stars activities concluded on Saturday last where all the junior and senior infants who took part from the school’s in the parish were presented with their certificates. We would like to thank all the coaches and all who helped organise this successful initiative. Thanks also the the children and there parents for taking part.

Juvenile Registration: 

Registration for the juvenile club will take place on Wednesday 7th February at 6.30pm in Kilcoleman. The cost to register will be €50 per child or €100 per family.

Referees needed:

We are  2 weeks  away from the start of the new referee course. We have 5 candidates from North Tipperary at present who have signed up.  We need to improve on this.

There are 4 clubs in North Tipperary who currently do not have a referee. Let’s work to address this in the next two weeks.

Senior Hurling:

The draw for the north senior championship took place last week and we were drawn against Templederry who knocked us out of last year’s championship. He first round of the north championship games are scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 1st of April.

All Ireland Camogie Semi-final:

Commiserations to the Burgess Duharra senior Camogie team who suffered a heartbreaking one point defeat at the weekend.

Kilcolman community Recreation and Development Society Ltd. AGM:

The Kilcolman community Recreation and Development Society Ltd. AGM is on this Thursday  February 1st at 8pm in the new building.

Burgess Juvenile GAA club will hold their AGM on Wednesday 31st January at 7.30pm in Kilcoleman.  All are welcome to attend.

Registration for the juvenile club will take place on 7th February at 6.30pm in Kilcoleman. The cost to register will be €50 per child or €100 per family.

Burgess Couch to 5k:

We are launching a free couch to 5k program beginning on January 16th from the new building in Kilcoleman and continuing for nine more Tuesdays. Each evening you will receive a new training program. We will then end with a 5k Park run. This promises to be a fun way to get fit and start off the new year on the right foot.

All Ireland Camogie Semi-final:

The Burgess-Duharra seniors are playing in the all ireland semi final in Banagher Co.Offaly at 2pm

Sunday 28th of January. Please come out and give them your support.

Little All Stars:

The Little Allstars returned on Saturday last and will continue for the next four Saturday’s at 10am in Kilcolman for all Junior and senior infant children in the parish. We encourage parents to stay and watch or have a cup of tea in the new building. We look forward to seeing you and your child there.

Well done to Stephen Murray who made another scoring contribution with the Tipperary senior footballers last week in a challenge against CIT in Doctor Morris Park.

Handball news:

Congratulations to handballers Iris Grace, Girls u12 singles, Tomas Ryan, Boys u12 singles, Aidan Kyne and Luke Power, Boys u10 doubles who won North Tipperary championships in Nenagh. Well done to all our players who competed in a number of finals over the weekend. Training continues on Monday evenings in Kilcoleman.

U11 Indoor Hurling:

U11 hurling concluded this week with victories for Green & Yellow Shamrocks in the cup and Cuala in the plate. In all five teams with a total of twenty five boys took part in wall ball and alley drills as well as a league of indoor games. We would like to thank Fergal McDonnell, Micheál Ryan, Edmund Ryan and David Kyne for their hard work coaching, refereeing and organising the sessions and games. It was fantastic to see how much the lads enjoyed the games while also brining on their skills. Well done to all.

Winter activities

Thanks to Fergal McDonnell and his team who ran this years winter activities nights in Kilcolman. The final evening was last Thursday night and was as usual great fun for the children of 1st and 2nd class of the parish.
