Press release regarding Sports Capital Funding grant

Great news!

Burgess G.A.A. and Burgess Duharra Camogie clubs are delighted to report that we were awarded €56140 in Sports Capital funding today towards our development of a hurling wall and all-weather playing surface.

We would like to thank all who were involved in securing this grant with special thanks to Michael Lowry T.D. Joe Hannigan M.C.C. John Carroll M.C.C. and Alan Kelly T.D.

Burgess GAA notes 11th Nov 2019

U21 Hurling:

Our u21’s suffered a heavy defeat away to Borrisokane on Saturday last. Final score Borrisokane 2-24 Borrisokane 0-9.This loss ends our interest in this competition.
Club Online Shop:
The new club shop is live on O’Neills website. They are offering a 15% discount on your first order with free delivery when you spend €50. 

Buy a Block, build a future:

‪A big thanks to everyone who came to Kilcoleman Friday evening last to support our buy a block build a future fundraiser. Blocks cost €200 and all proceeds will go towards developing our hurling wall and astro turf! Payment plans are also available if required. Contact Derek Sharkey or David Kyne for further information about securing your block.
Club lotto:
There was no winner of last Monday night’s jackpot, the Numbers drawn were 6, 15, 19 & 24. The Lucky dip winners were Gemma Flynn Nenagh, Margaret Grace Pallasbeg & Lauren McKenna Newtown. The sellers prize went to True Beauty Nenagh. This week’s draw is in D Pallas Bar for a Jackpot of €4,500.

Burgess Gaa Notes 4th November 2019

U21 hurling:
Our u21’s were defeated 2-10 to 1-11 by Ballina on Sunday morning last in the ‘b’ north championship. Our next game is Saturday November 9th at 2:30pm in Borrisokane v Borrisokane. Please keep an eye on the clubs social media for any fixture changes.
Buy a Brick, Build our Future:
The clubs would like to extend a huge thanks to all who attended our launch night of our Buy a Block, Build a Future fundraiser! Blocks will be for sale this Friday evening in Kilcoleman between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Blocks cost €200 and all proceeds will go towards developing our hurling wall and astro turf! Payment plans are also available if required! Further information on the project itself will also be available on the night!
U11 indoor hurling league:
Our u11 indoor hurling league kicks off this Thursday with five teams involved. 
Club Lotto:
There was no winner of last Monday night’s jackpot. The Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 5 & 25. The Lucky dip winners were Ger Hassett c/o D Pallas Bar, O’Dwyer family Newtown & Gabby Reidy Newtown. The Sellers prize went to Ger Nevin. This weeks draw was in Barry’s for a Jackpot of €4,400.

We are playing Ballina in Sunday November 3rd in Kilcolman at 12pm in the North B championship. All support is greatly appreciated.

Burgess GAA notes 30th September 2019

Senior Hurling:

Our senior hurlers fight for their senior A status against neighbour’s Portroe in Dolla on Sunday October 6th at 3:30pm. We are looking for massive Burgess support of our lads for their final game of 2019.
Martin O’Leary Memorial tournament:
We held our annual Martin O’Leary u11 memorial tournament on Saturday last. It was a huge success with Ballyskenach/Killavilla, Drom-Inch and Abbeydorney joining us for a festival of hurling. Ultimately it was the Burgess boys who claimed the win. Well done to all our players and management for their efforts this year and thanks to all the parents who helped out on Saturday. 
Camogie:
Best of luck to the Burgess Duharra senior camogie team who have reached the county final on October 12th where they will seek to win an amazing 7 titles in a row.
45 cards group: 
The 45 cards group will start up again next Thursday night Oct 3 in Kilcolman at 8pm. Enjoy a night of cards, chat and refreshments upstairs in the new building. There is lots of room for new players so just come along.

Burgess GAA Notes 23rd September 2019

Senior Hurling:

After a titanic battle and 2 bouts of extra time our lads bowed out of the north championship. After almost 2 solid hours of hurling the final score read Borris-Ileigh 1-32 to 2-24. Our lads gave it their all but just wasn’t to be. Commiserations to our lads and the best of luck to Borris in the North final next weekend.

We have been drawn against neighbours Portroe inour senior A relegation match. The winner stays up, the loser goes down to senior B. There’s no official fixture made yet but it will be played around October 5th/6th. We wish our lads the very best of luck and are looking for massive Burgess support for them on the day.

Liam McCarthy school visits:

Club men Donagh Maher & Ronan Tucker along with Mikey Breen and the All Ireland cups will be paying a visit to the 2 national schools next Tuesday 24th as follows: Youghalarra NS 9.30 to 10.15 & Burgess NS 10.30 to 11.15

U11 Hurling:

Both our u11 teams were knocked out at the weekend, the D team were beaten 1-3 to 1-2 by Ballinahinch in the plate semi final and the B team were beaten by Silvermines 4-5 to 2-5. Hard luck lads.

Club Gear:

Burgess GAA Clubs are currently in the process of setting up a Burgess GAA Online Shop with O’Neills. Club members and supporters will be able to log on and purchase products in club colours directly from the site. Such products will include different designs/styles of jackets, training tops, hooded tops, polo shirts, skinny pants, shorts etc. Club jersey’s, shorts, socks & other accessories will also be available. We have been informed by O’Neills that this process may take up to 6 weeks. We will keep you updated as our shop gets stocked up.
