Burgess GAA Notes 23rd October 2017

Junior Football:

Our eagerly awaited North Junior A football final against Portroe has been fixed for Sunday October 29th at 2pm in Nenagh. As always at this time of the year fixtures become a bit more fluid so be sure and check the Guardian and the clubs social media for any changes.
U21 Hurling:

Our final group game did not go ahead at the weekend with ourselves conceding a walkover to Portroe due to lack of availability of players. Both ourselves and Portroe however qualify from the group for the semi-finals.

Cards Night:

Cards night continues every Thursday in Kilcoleman (new building) at 8pm. We’d love to see new 45 players as well as those who were involved last year. A beginners table will be there too. Lots of laughs and chat with a cup of tea.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Tuesday night’s club lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 17, 20, 25 & 26. The lucky dip winners were Sean O’Dwyer Newtown, Liam O’Donoghue Patrickswell & Dolores Murphy Nenagh. The sellers prize went to John Joe Ryan. This weeks draw was in D Pallas Bar for a jackpot of €3,650.

Match Report – U16 footballers reach North Final

The Burgess U16 footballers played Moneygall/ Clonakenny in the Football semifinal this evening at 7pm in Moneygall. Burgess played into the wind and up the hill in the 1st half. It was always going to be a tight game as we had lost to them by 1 point in an earlier round.

The 1st half finished on score line of 4 points each. In the second half against the run of play MG/CY scored a soft goal. But credit to the Burgess lads they didn’t panic and scored the next 4 points without reply.

Poor discipline by MG/CY lead to them losing 2 players. With the seconds counting down MG/CY won a free 14 metres out. The free was saved on the line and the referee blew the final whistle leaving Burgess through to the final on a scoreline of Burgess 0-08 to Moneygall/Clonakennys 1-04.

We will be underdogs in the final but we know the lads will give everything.

Big thank you to Pat Gibson for supplying the match report.
