Junior A hurling:

Our juniors got themselves into the knockout phase of the north league after an absorbing dogfight in Newport at the weekend. We were up against it at half time after Newport made the most of home advantage and a stiff breeze to go in with a 1-11 to 0-8 lead. John O’Briens accuracy from placed balls was all that was keeping us in touch.

A string of bad wides early in the second half didn’t bode well but our troops but our lads upped the ante and a Ronan Tucker goal set the game up for an exciting finish. After a break in play for a nasty injury inflicted on David Seymour our boys rallied to the cause and lead for the first time in the game when it mattered most. Peter Gill was the hero with the winning score three minutes into injury time , Burgess 1-16 Newport 1-15.

Junior A Hurling:

Well done to our junior A hurlers who kicked off their league campaign with a fine 1-15 to 0-13 win over Borris-Ileigh. Ben Cooney did the world of damage in the first half, a performance he capped off with a fine goal (video below) at the stroke of half time.

Couch to 5k:

Well done to all who completed the couch to 5k and took part in Sunday’s park run in Clarisford Killaloe. Big thank you to Fergal McDonnell who organised and led the group.

U16 Football:

Hard luck to our u16 footballers who were beaten away to Portroe on Tuesday night. We were forced to play with 14 due to lack of numbers and Port made the most of home and numerical advantage to gain a well deserved win in horrible weather conditions.
