Burgess GAA Notes 13th August 2018

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors recorded a 2-23 to 1-10 win over Ballingarry in the Seamus Ui Rian championship on Sunday last. This win puts us on top of our group with St. Marys Clonmel to be our final opponents in the group phase. Well done to all and a big thank you to all who made the long journey to Templetouhey to support the team.

Junior Hurling:

Our juniors are through to the semi-final of the North championship this coming weekend where they will face Roscrea time and date to be confirmed. All support is greatly appreciated.

U12 Hurling:

Our u12 ‘green’ team are pride of the parish this week after their heroics in the North final last Saturday where they completed a North ‘B’ football and Hurling double for 2018. Our boys and girls put in a great performance against an excellent Kiladangan team who had previously beaten us earlier in the championship. The standard of hurling was extremely high and the low final score of 0-4 to 0-3 merely reflects toughness of both defences. Our lads and lassies will face the south champions this coming weekend. Please keep an eye on the clubs social media for fixture updates and please do come along and support our young hurlers. We would like to extended a big thank you to their mentors and parents for all the work that has been put into both the Green and Gold teams this year.

Senior Hurling:

Our disappointing year drew to a close on Sunday last when we were beaten 2-20 to 2-8 by Kiladangan and were relegated to Roinn 2 next year. It’s been a tough year of injury, loss of personnel and just plain bad luck. We would like to thank the players and management for their hard work and efforts throughout the year.

We had a busy week of underage action starting on Thursday last when our u9’s played a blitz in Shallee. On Friday our u11’s were beaten 1-9 to 1-5 away to a very strong Lorrha side. We would like to thank Pallasgreen for making the journey up to us. The weekend was capped off in style for our young players when our u10’s had a fine win over Kiladangan plate final in Cloughjordan.

The Martin O’Leary U11 tournament will take place on Saturday 7th October in Kilcolman from 1pm to 3pm. Teams comfirmed are Kilruane, Kiladangan and Portroe.
