Burgess GAA Notes 7th August 2018

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors take on Ballingarry in Borrisoleigh on this coming Sunday at 2pm in the Seamus Ui Rian county championship. Please see the Guardian and the clubs social media for further updates.

Junior Hurling:

Our juniors are through to the semi-final of the North championship where they will face Roscrea time and date to be confirmed.

U12 Hurling:

Our u12 ‘green’ team are up against Kiladangan in the north u12 B final this Saturday August 11th at 1pm in Toome. Please come out and support our young hurlers.

Walking Group:

Our walkers are in full swing at the moment, taking trips all around north Tipp and beyond. Well done to Pat Delaney and co. on making this a real success. The group are always looking for new members to join them every Thursday evening. If you would like to join them please contact Pat Delaney or Fergal McDonnell (085 7254855)

Mothers and Others:

The girls are starting back to football training on Monday nights at 7pm in Kilcolman. This team is for any ladies who would like to train casually with a team and have a bit of fun. ALL are welcome. Contact 085 7254855 if you wish to join in.

Zumba Classes:

Zumba takes place each Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30 in Kilcoleman and classes are €6 pay as you go!

The Chaser:

As part of the clubs drive to finance the new juvenile hurling wall and astro surface we are proud to announce that in association with Pallas marketing that we will be the first club ever to hold the chaser this coming October in the Abbey Court Hotel. Watch out for further updates on the clubs social media.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Mondasy night’s club lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 6, 21, 26 & 30. The lucky dip winners were Isabel Deere Newtown, Bridie Kyne Ballymoylan & Peter O Doherty Nenagh. The sellers prize went to Peter Carroll. This week’s draw was in D Pallas Bar for a  Jackpot of €3,000.

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors were beaten by 2 points on Friday last by Nenagh. Our final group game will against Toomevara this weekend please see the Guardian and the club social media for details on that fixture.

U12 hurling:

Our gold team bowed out of the North championship yesterday evening going down fighting to nenagh who with a couple of late goals ran out winners.

Nenagh 5-4

Burgess 1-0.

Our green team had a good win over borrisokane.

Burgess 4-8.

Borrisokane 0-0.

Our u12’s had a day out in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick where they wore our new Jersey’s kindly sponsored by Conor Mulcahy Construction. There’s a great team photo on the club Facebook page.

Cúl Camp:

We ran a very successful Cul Camp last week with the biggest ever numbers having 164 kids in total attending. A big highlight was the visit of Tipperary and Loughmores John McGrath on Thursday. A big thanks to JP Grace and his coaching team who made sure all the kids got he very best instruction and were well looked after for the week. Also thanks to Parents and U16/Minor boys and girls who helped out during the week.

Burgess GAA Notes 25th June 2018

Senior Hurling;

Our senior hurlers enjoyed an emphatic win over Newport in Kilcolman on Friday evening last. Our 4-21 to 1-15 win sees us unbeaten in our group and through to the division 2 semi-final. We go through as group runners up by virtue of our two draws.

Junior A Hurling:

Our postponed game against Knockshegowna took place on Monday June 25TH in Toomevara at 8pm. A late scoring flurry rescued the game and gave us a 1-14 to 1-11 win. We’ve a quick turnaround then for Friday June 29ths game v Roscrea in Toomevara at 7:30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

U21 sevens tournament:

Unfortunately due to a fixtures log jamb we were unable to play in the Jim Egan memorial tournament in Puckane last weekend.

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors survived a second half comeback from Kilruane after a fine first half performance gave us a fine 2-8 to 0-6 lead at half time. We managed to hold on for a four point win in our opening game of the north championship. Well done to all. Next up is Knockshegowna this Saturday coming in Portroe. U14 hurling:

Our u14’s scored a good win over Kiladangan in Kilcoleman last Wednesday evening. Well done to all.

U12 hurling:

Our u12 teams suffered two losses during the week to Kilruane (gold) and Kildadangan (green) hard look lads.

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors took part in the inaugural Ger Grace 11 a side senior hurling tournament in Dolla on Saturday last. Our boys bowed out at the group stage after losing both their games narrowly to the eventual finalists Templederry and Mullinahone. We’d like to thank Silvermines for the invite to what was a very enjoyable, entertaining and well run tournament.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw:

The first draw for 2018/19 was held on Friday 25th May. Thanks to all our existing members who should have received their receipts in the post by now. We hope all will renew their membership for the coming year. New members are always welcome. There are cars and holidays to won every month. Entry costs €100 and remember €50 of this is retained by the club. You can contact our county draw rep Joe Sherlock by phone (085) 715 2985 for further details.
