Burgess GAA Notes 6th June 2016

Senior Hurling:

North senior quarter finals have been fixed for the 25th and 26th of June. We have been drawn against Borrisokane. We will pass on further fixture information once it comes to hand. We have also drawn Toomevara in the semi-final of the Johnny Ryan league cup.

Congratulations to our Junior A hurlers who brought great honour to the club on Saturday evening when they brought the Denis Carroll Memorial Cup home to the parish for the on what was a very emotional occasion. The lads recorded a fine 2-18 to 1-12 victory against Kiladangan in a very entertaining game of hurling. We wish them the best of luck in the championship.

U12 Hurling:

Our u12B team drew with Kilruane last week Burgess 3-4 Kilruane 2-7 and our gold team were defeated away to Nenagh but played very well.

School Skills Competition:

Well done to Conor Reidy, Eoin Grace and Micheál Ryan who won the Tipperary competition last Thursday night in Thurles and will go on to compete in Munster this Wednesday

Last week U14 coaches David Kyne and Derek Sharkey were presented with new Jerseys for our U14 hurlers in preparation for Féile na nGael by Tommy Murray on behalf of Flogas .

We would like to thank Tommy and Flogas for their generosity. An absolutely smashing set of Jerseys, well wear lads! And the best of luck in Féile!

Millennium Cross Walk:

Burgess Juvenile Club are organising ‘Millenium Cross Walk’ for families on Tuesday 21st June. There will be two starting points Killoran Hall at 7pm & car park for millennium cross at 7pm. All families are encouraged to participate in this walk. There will be a bucket collection on the night.

Cúl Camp:

Burgess Juvenile Club are holding their annual Cúl Camp on Monday 4th July to Friday 8th July. Booking can now be made on line http://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie forms will be available at training shortly

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday night’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 2, 5, 19 & 20. The 3 x €40 winners were Katie O’Keeffe Newtown, Tom Mulcahy Boher & Patrick Lynch c/o Molly Bans. Sellers prize John maher. This week’s draw is in Reidy’s. Jackpot €8,250

Burgess GAA notes 22nd September 2014

Senior North Final Replay:

Our senior hurlers were in hard luck on Sunday in the North final replay. We fought hard but came up short on the day to a very good Eire Og team. Our lads have put in a massive effort this year and have made us very proud with the standard of hurling they have produced thus far. Hard luck lads and best of luck for the rest of the county championship.

Congratulations to Eire Og Nenagh who were worthy champions in the end.

U13 Hurling:

Hard luck to U13 team who were beaten by a margin of just one point by Newport Gales in  Newport last Friday evening in the U13 plate competition. Score Newport Gaels 5 -05 Burgess 4-09

U11 Hurling:

Burgess hosted a very successful U11 hurling blitz in Kilcoleman last Saturday in the glorious sunshine. 4 teams took part, Burgess, Portroe,  Newport and Kildangan. A great day was had by all the young hurlers and their families. A big thank you to Fergal McDonnell for all his hard work organising this blitz. Also thanks to Pat Gibson and Christy McLoughlin who were the referees for the day.

All roads lead to McDonagh Park Nenagh on Sunday September 14th at 3:30pm where our senior hurlers take on Nenagh Eire for the North championship. Note that the time has changed. We are asking for everyone’s support  on the day as our lads bid to make history. Best of luck to the team and management!

U14 Hurling:

Well done to U14 team who beat Ballina last Wednesday evening in the first round of the plate. Our next game is against Borrisokane in Kilcoleman. Date and time to be confirmed.

U11 Hurling:

There will be an U11 tournament commencing Saturday 13th in Kilcoleman. More details will be sent via club phone.

All Ireland Final:

Well done to Eamonn O’Shea and the Tipperary senior hurling team who secured a replay in one of the greatest finals of all time at the weekend. We wish them the very best of luck on September 27th in the replay. Would members who are looking for tickets please get their orders in in good time please.

Burgess Gaa Notes 1st September 2014

Congratulations:

Well done  to Drew Boland who was on the winning Tipperary U16b who won the All Ireland tournament last weekend. Well done also to Jack Boland and Stephen Kirwan who were on the U14 Tipperary teams who played in the Tony Forrestal and Sonny Walsh competitions at the weekend. Well done too to Michael Ryan who represented Tipperary recently in the long puck community games in Athlone. Michael came 9th in Ireland which is a fantastic achievement for a young man of nine years. Well done again to all, you have made us all in the parish very proud.

U16 Hurling:

The U16 team bowed out of the championship last Monday evening against Borrisokane. Well done to all the boys and the selectors for all their commitment throughout the year

U14 Hurling:

We face Nenagh in the final of the North senior hurling championship on Sunday September 14th in McDonagh Park, Nenagh after our recent victory over Kilruane in the north semi-final. I’m sure we can count on everyone in the parish to give our lads all the support they deserve on the day.

Training Fund:

The club is starting a training fund to support our senior hurlers before their North final appearance and we would welcome any contributions from businesses or supporters alike in order to give our lads every advantage on the day. If you are interested in helping out please contact any club officer for further details.

Best Wishes for the All Ireland Final:

We would like to wish Eamonn O’Shea and his charges the very best of luck in the All Ireland Senior hurling final on Sunday coming.

Club lotto:

There was no winner of last week’s Jackpot the numbers Drawn were 10, 11, 12 & 29.  This week’s draw was  in Molly Bán’s, Nenagh on Monday the 1st September.  The Jackpot was at an all time high of €10,400 on the night.  Next week’s draw will be in Barry’s of Newtown on Monday the 8th September .  Best of luck & thank you for your support.

A quick “in the field” relocation of an errant pinkie

U14:

Well done to u14 team who bowed out of the championship with a win over Portroe last Wednesday evening in Portroe.

U16:

Hard luck to u16 team who were narrowly beaten by Ballina in Kilcoleman on Monday 28th July.

Minor Hurling:

Well done to our minor hurlers who defeated Borrisokane this evening 2-9 to 0-13. Our next game will be on Thursday 7th August on 7pm in Dolla against Templederry.

Bag Packing:

Dunnes Stores have kindly agreed to allow the juvenile club to bag pack on Saturday 23rd August. We would appreciate if one member of each family in the juvenile club would agree to one or two hour slot to bag pack on this date. Please ring the club Secretary on 086 3934363 to arrange a time that suits you.

Junior A:

Our Junior A hurlers had a good win over Silvermines on Saturday last on a score line of 2-20 to 2-11. Our next game will be against Nenagh Eire Og at a time and date to be confirmed.

Senior hurling:

Hotly contested

Our senior Hurlers were defeated by Drom-Inch in their final group game of the county championship by four points, 1-16 to 1-20. We started with a strong wind but couldn’t make the chances we created tell on the scoreboard but great credit is due to our lads who battled all the way to the end. This means that our fate is now out of our own hands and we will have to wait and see how Borris-Illeigh fair against Silvermines in their final game to see if we progress further. The draws were also made for the semi-finals of the North Championship and we have been paired up against Kilruane. Nenagh Eire Og will face Borris-Illeigh in the other semi-Final.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday night’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 13,20,21&23.The 3 x €40 winners were: Peter Carroll, Bollaroe: Marian Collins. Ballywilliam: Louise Grattan. Ormond St: This week’s draw was held in Molly Bán’s on bank holiday Monday for a record jackpot of €10,000. Next week’s draws will be held in Reidys, Newtown. Thanks to everyone for their continued support and the very best of luck.

Senior Hurling:

Hatching Plans

Our Dr. Fogarty  league final which was fixed for Sunday next has been postponed and instead we will play Moneygall in the North quarter final on Sunday 29th of June in Toomevara at a time to be confirmed. All support for our senior hurlers is greatly appreciated.

Junior A:

Our junior A championship opening fixture against Silvermines from last weekend was postponed. Please keep an eye on the Guardian fixtures and the clubs social media for further details.

U6/U8:
Our U8’s participated in a succesful blitz in Dolla on Saturday, June 14. They played great games against Nenagh, Silvermines, Ballina and Ballinahinch. Thanks to Silvermines for accomodating the blitz and to all parents for attending. The following players participated: Tomas Ryan, Michael Ryan, Tom Hanrahan, David Nealon, Jayden Guilfoyle, Jack Sullivan, Cathal Slattery, Eoghan Ryan, Joe O’Dwyer, Joseph Kearney, Adam Dorris, Grady Buchanan, Luke Comerford, Diarmuid O’Donoghue, Donagh Ryan, Conor Grace,

U6 & U8 training continues in Kilcolman on Tuesday and Fridays, 7 – 8PM.

U 12:

Hard luck to the U12 team who were beaten by a stronger Lorrha team in Kilcolman last Friday evening.  Next game will be against the Silvermines.

U14:

Next game for U14 will take place this Wednesday evening in Kilcolman at 6.30 against Moneygall/ Templederry.

U16:

Our U16 campaign will begin on Monday 30th against Moneygall in Moneygall.

Cul Camp:

Cul Camp will take place in Kilcolman on Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July. This camp is for boys and girls aged 6 – 13. Forms will be given out in schools, please return forms to your trainers.  Alternatively you can book on line.

Club lotto:

There was no winner of last week’s Jackpot. The numbers Drawn were 4, 9, 12 & 22. This week’s Draw was in Barry’s of Newtown on Monday 23rd June.  The Jackpot was €9,050 on the night. Next week’s draw will be in Ciss Ryan’s, Garrykennedy on Monday 30th June. Good Luck & thank you for your support.

Burgess GAA Notes 16th June 2014

Senior Hurling:

No quarter asked

Burgess are through to the Dr. Fogarty cup senior league final for the second consecutive year  thanks to our 0-12 to 0-9 victory over Ballingarry at the weekend. A short match report can be found on the club website.

The team that lined out was: Niall McGrath, John O’Dwyer, Johny Mulqueen, Jack O’Flaherty, Shane Maher, Donagh Maher, Paddy Hogan (0-1), Mike O’Flaherty, Danny Ryan, Damien O’Brien (0-3), Pater Gill (0-1)l, Noel Gleeson, Eoin Hogan, Brian Hogan, Stephan Murray (0-7 3f 1 ’65). Subs used: Conor Gill, Tadgh O’Halloran, John O’Brien.

We now face Clonoulty-Rossmore in the final of this competition at a date to be confirmed. We will face Moneygall in the quarter final of the North senior championship also at a date to be confirmed.

U12:

Borrisoleigh hosted our under 12s in the 3rd round off the championship on Friday evening. Burgess got off to a flying start with a goal from Jason Quigley and a point from Cormac McCauliffe. Borrisoleigh responded well with a goal and a point of their own to level things up. Keifer O Brien was next on the score board with a goal. Borrisoleigh scored point to leave the half time score 2-1 to 1-2 in favour off Burgess. Borrisoleigh were out of the blocks quick in second half scoring a goal and five points before Burgess responded with Daire Hogan and Eoin Grace scoring a point each. In the final 10 minutes it was attack after attack from Burgess but the Borrisoleigh defence held solid and could not be breached leaving the final score 2-7 to 2-3 in favour of Borrisoleigh. Lorrha are up next in Kilcolman next Friday evening at 6.30 all support greatly appreciated.

U14:

Hard luck to our U14 team who were beaten by a much stronger Borrisoleigh team on Wednesday evening in Kilcolman.

U16:

U16 hurling will commence on Monday 30th June with our first game against Moneygall in Moneygall

Cul camp:

Cul camp will take place in Kilcolman from Monday 14th – Friday 18th July this camp is open to boys and girls aged 6 – 13.

Club lotto:

There was no winner of last night’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 9,14,17 & 26.
