Burgess GAA Notes 19th March 2019

Senior Hurling league:

We suffered a heavy loss to Kiladangan in the Senior league on bank holiday Monday last. 2-16 to 1-8 was the final score with our goal, coming from a blistering 21 meter free from Stephen Murray with the last puck of the game. We were forced to cede home advantage for this fixture due to the bad weather making Kilcoleman unplayable.

North Tipp junior A league:

On Saturday March 23rd we take on Roscrea in Roscrea at 5pm.

North Tipp Junior B 

On Sunday March 24th we face Ballinahinch in Kilcoleman 11:15am

C.P.R. training session:

There will be a free C.P.R. Training session in Kilcolman on Tuesday 26th March 7:30 to 10pm.

Certified trainers will do Adult/Child C.P.R. Adult/Child choking and Adult/Child use of A.E.D (defibrillator)

Membership:

 Club membership is now due and is a very reasonable €50 for a player, €30 playing student and €20 for a social member. Gym membership is now also due at this time.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday’s nights club lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 7, 15, 16 & 24. The €40 lucky dip winners were Mary Kehoe c/o Pat Stanley, Peg Maxwell, Pallasmore and Anne Grace Nenagh. The sellers prize went to Mairead Darcy. Next weeks draw will be held in Barry’s for a Jackpot of €2,400.

A.G.M.

The 2018 club AGM is Friday 11th January at 8pm. Mass for deceased club members is at 7.30. Nomination forms are available upon request. All club members are welcome to attend.

Dinner Dance:

Join us at 7.15pm SHARP on Saturday January 12th in the Lakeside Hotel for great celebrations at the Burgess GAA & Burgess-Duharra Dinner Dance.

After what has been a fantastic year for both clubs with our Burgess – Duharra ladies winning SEVEN county finals in a row and the Kilmacud All Ireland 7s, to name a few and our senior hurlers winning the Seamus O’Rian Senior County Championship we have a lot to celebrate!

Ebony will provide the entertainment on the night with a DJ to follow.

Tickets are €26 and can be purchased from any committee member! It’s going to be a fantastic night so be sure to get your tickets early!

Couch to 5K:

We are hoping to run our Couch to 5k programme in Kilcolman again this year. If you have little or no running experience, this is perfect for you. Intercounty representation:

Well done to Donagh Maher who chipped in with a point from corner back in Tipps Munster league win over Kerry last weekend.

Club Lotto:

Thanks to all who supported our club lotto over the festive period and all who attended our Christmas and New Year draws. We’d like to wish all our supporters a prosperous and happy new year.

Senior Hurling:

Our senior hurlers qualified for the semi-final of the Seamus O Riain after their 2-17 to 1-15 win over St Marys in Clonoulty at the weekend. We won all three of our games and topped the group. Well done to all.

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors take on Roscrea in the North semi-final this Saturday September 1st in Moneygall at 5pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

Junior A Football:

We are scheduled to play Kilruane McDonaghs in the quarter final of the North championship on Thursday August 30th in Ballingarry at 7:30pm.

U12 Hurling:

Our Green team face Boherlahan in the county final this Saturday September 1st at 11:30am not 12pm as previously advertised in Dundrum. All support is greatly appreciated.

U14 Hurling:

Our u14’s were in hard luck to be beaten by Kiladangan on Thursday last 4-8 to 3-6. Hard luck lads and thanks to the mentors for their efforts over the year.

Zumba Classes:

Zumba takes place each Tuesday night from 7.30 to 8.30 in Kilcoleman and classes are €6 pay as you go!

The Chaser:

U12 Hurling:

Our u12 ‘Green’ team qualified for the county final after a 2-4 to 0-6 win over Mullinahone at the weekend. Our opponents will be Boherlahann. Keep an eye on the clubs social media for further details on that fixture and please do come and support our young hurlers.

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors face St Marys in their final group game of the Seamus O’Rian on Saturday 25th of August at 5pm in Clonoulty. All support is greatly appreciated.

Burgess Gaa Notes 23rd July 2018

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors were beaten by 2 points on Friday last by Nenagh. Our final group game will against Toomevara this weekend please see the Guardian and the club social media for details on that fixture.

U12 hurling:

Our gold team bowed out of the North championship yesterday evening going down fighting to nenagh who with a couple of late goals ran out winners.

Nenagh 5-4

Burgess 1-0.

Our green team had a good win over borrisokane.

Burgess 4-8.

Borrisokane 0-0.

Our u12’s had a day out in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick where they wore our new Jersey’s kindly sponsored by Conor Mulcahy Construction. There’s a great team photo on the club Facebook page.

Cúl Camp:

We ran a very successful Cul Camp last week with the biggest ever numbers having 164 kids in total attending. A big highlight was the visit of Tipperary and Loughmores John McGrath on Thursday. A big thanks to JP Grace and his coaching team who made sure all the kids got he very best instruction and were well looked after for the week. Also thanks to Parents and U16/Minor boys and girls who helped out during the week.

Junior A Hurling:

Our juniors short a few fought hard to overturn a half time five point deficit against Borris-Ileigh and stretch their unbeaten run to five games in the north championship. The 19 points to 18 points win put us top of the table and leaves us qualified for the semi finals with two games yet to play. Well done to all especially as we were short numbers on Friday evening last.

Senior Hurling.

Our seniors take on Loughmore Castleiney in Castleiney on Tuesday July 10th at 8pm in the division 2 semi final.

Minor hurling:

Our minors were robbed of victory by a Kilruane free deep in injury time on Thursday evening. The 1-18 each draw was late finishing after a serious injury to Kilruanes Devlin Courtney held up play for over half an hour. We wish Devlin a speedy recovery. We next face Borrisokane in kilcolman on Thursday July 12th at 8pm.

Senior Hurling;

Our senior hurlers enjoyed an emphatic win over Newport in Kilcolman on Friday evening last. Our 4-21 to 1-15 win sees us unbeaten in our group and through to the division 2 semi-final. We go through as group runners up by virtue of our two draws.

Junior A Hurling:

Our postponed game against Knockshegowna took place on Monday June 25TH in Toomevara at 8pm. A late scoring flurry rescued the game and gave us a 1-14 to 1-11 win. We’ve a quick turnaround then for Friday June 29ths game v Roscrea in Toomevara at 7:30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

U21 sevens tournament:

Unfortunately due to a fixtures log jamb we were unable to play in the Jim Egan memorial tournament in Puckane last weekend.

Our first league game which was due to be played on Friday was postponed because Hollycross couldn’t field a team. We struggled ourselves for numbers on Monday evening for our second game v JK Brackens and Brackens had to send up their goalie to get a late injury goal form a 21 to grabs draw.

U16 football:

Well done to our u16 footballers who were crowned north ‘b’ champions on Sunday last. We had to dig deep to grind out the win with 14 men in the second half. Final score Burgess 1-10 Silvermines 2-5. Best of luck in the county semi-final lads.

Our u12 footballers were beaten in the county semi final on Saturday last by Mullinahone 1-4 to 2-7. Hard luck lads!

U14 Football:

Continuing the our juveniles good run at the big ball our u14’s had a good win over Lorrha on Thursday last.

Junior A Hurling:

Our junior A’s were well beaten in the north league semi-final by a very strong Templederry outfit on Friday last with a final score of 1-9 to 1-20. Best of luck to Templederry in the final.

Senior Hurling:

We will play Lorrha away in the county league on Wednesday May 16th at 7:30.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw:

The first draw for 2018/19 will be held on Friday 25th May. Thanks to all our existing members who should have received their receipts in the post by now. We hope all will renew their membership for the coming year. New members are always welcome. There are cars and holidays to won every month. Entry costs €100 and remember €50 of this is retained by the club.

Our u21’s were beaten 1-26 to 2-26 by Borris-Ileigh on Friday last after extra time in a thrilling game of hurling.

U12 football:

Pride of the parish this week are our u12 heroes who who won the north ‘b’ final on Saturday last I. A great game against a strong Lorrha side 4-0 to 1-5. Well done to the players and management.

U16 football:
