Juvenile results 26th June 2017

Mixed results for our underage teams in atrocious conditions last night.

Our U12D team beat Newport 6-2 to 2-0 last night in Kilcolman. Team and scorers: Cathal Slattery, Niamh Ryan, Iris Grace, Diarmuid O’Donoghue (1-0), Aisling Kennedy, Laura Kennedy (2-1), Conor Gorman, Lauren Ryan (2-1), Adam Dorris (1-0), Tom Hanrahan & Maire Ryan. 

While our U14s came up against a very strong Silvermines side in very wet conditions in Dolla last night. The lads battled hard to the end. Final score Silvermines 8-8 Burgess 2-5.

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors are out against Mullinahone in the County championship this Sunday May 27th at 2pm. We are looking for big Burgess support in this vital game.

Junior B League:

Our junior B’s out this Weekend against Lorrha in Kilcoleman at 7:30. Please see the Guardian and the clubs social media for further fixture information. 

U14 Football:

Hard luck to our u14 footballers who came up short against a fine Silvermines outfit in the North A football final tonight in Puckane. Best of luck to Silvermines in the county championship.

Cúl Camp: 

Cúl Camp will be held in Kilcoleman this year from Mon 17th July – Fri 21st July. The cost of this camp is €60 for 1st. child; €50 for 2nd child; €40 for 3rd and subsequent children. Booking can be made on line http://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie

Cardiac Screening:

Burgess GAA club are hosting a cardiac screening day on Saturday May 20th in Kilcoleman. All are welcome including anyone from outside the parish who wishes to avail of the opportunity.The screening will begin at 9.30am, each screening will take 20/25 minutes.Bookings can be made online.

Burgess GAA Notes 18th April 2016

Junior A hurling:
 Our junior A’s had a busy but ultimately successful weekends work where they won both their North league outings. On Friday last they defeated Kiladangan in Kilcoleman on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-10 and then on Sunday morning they were up early to face Silvermines whom they defeated by 15 points, 3-13 to 1-4.

Senior Hurling:

Our seniors take on Toomevara in their second game of the senior county championship on Sunday next, 24th of April, in Nenagh at 6:30pm. This is a must win game for our lads so we look forward to a big Burgedd support at the game.

U12 Football:

Well done to our u12 footballers who had a good win over Borris Ileigh on Friday last. That win has qualified our lads for the Roinn B north semi final which they will play on Friday next against Toomevara. 

U16 football:

Well done to our u16 footballers who defeated Moneygall/Clonakenny recently. This win now puts them into a playoff situation in their group and on level points with Silvermines and Borrisokane.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 9 & 19. The 3 x €40 winners were Christine Flood Newtown, Claire Gleeson Five Alley & Noel Hogan Barnakay. The sellers prize went to Ger McCarthy. This weeks draw took place in Molly Báns for a Jackpot of €7,200.

Senior Hurling:


Our senior hurlers earned their first competitive win of the year on Sunday last against mid opposition in the shape of JK Brackens on Sunday 15th March. We were victorious on a score line of 2-11 to 2-10 in the county senior league in a hard fought encounter. Well done lads! A short match report can be viewed in the club website.

Our Junior A’s had a good win over Silvermines in the League on Saturday last claiming victory with a final score of 0-21 to 0-11.

Easter Camp:

Our Annual Easter Camp will take place from 31st March to April 2nd from 10 – 1pm. Boys and girls are welcome to attend this camp from aged 6 – 13. They must have attended GAA training in Kilcolman for at least one year as this camp only covers hurling and football . Cost is €20 per child. Please bring a hurley, helmet, boots and gum-shield. Registration will be held on the Monday 31st at 9.45am

There was no winner of last week’s Jackpot the numbers Drawn were 7, 13, 25 & 28.This week’s Draw was in Barry’s of Newtown on Monday the 23rd March. The Jackpot was €5,100 on the night. Well done to Aidan O’Flaherty who won his all Ireland u-17 handball semi-final recently 21-15 and 21-1. We all wish him the very best of luck in the All Ireland final.

Club membership falls due at this time and the rates for membership are as follows:  Adult Players €30, Student and non-playing members €20. The rate for adult players including Gym membership  is €100, students and non-playing members including gym membership is €90. Our Junior A’s bowed out of the North Championship on Friday last after a disappointing play-off defeat to Roscrea. We would like to thank both the players and management for their efforts throughout the year.

Senior Hurling:

Our senior hurlers will face Kilruane next weekend in the North semi-final at a date and venue to be confirmed. Please the Fixtures list and the clubs social media for further details. Our lads deserve our full support in this important fixture.

Minor Hurling:

Our Minors will face Silvermines in Nenagh on Tuesday the  19th of August at 6:30pm


Well done to U16 team who beat Shannon Rovers on Monday 11th in Kilcoleman. Next game Monday 18th v Silvermines.


U14 team are taking part in the Newport tournament. Time and dates will be sent by club secretary. They are also taking part in the U14 North Tipp plate.

Bag Packing:

Bag packing will take place in Dunnes Stores this Saturday 23rd August. All juvenile parents are asked to spare an hour or two to help this fundraiser for the juvenile club. Please give your name to club Secretary on (086) 3934363 and a time that would suit you.
