Burgess GAA Notes 24th July 2017

Well done to Donagh Maher who put in a fantastic display with Tipperary hurlers in their defeat of Clare in the all Ireland quarter final. Best of luck to Donagh and the lads against Galway in the semi-final.

U12 Hurling:

Hard Luck to our Under 12s who gave another spirited performance but unfortunately lost out to Borrisokane on a score line 3-2 to 1-6 in the North Semi Final in Kilcolman on Friday evening. A great bunch of players I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

A big thanks to Willie Ryan, Niall McGrath and Kevin Cooney for stepping in and training this bunch all year they really brought the team on in leaps and bounds and built a good foundation with this team going forward. Thanks to Derek Sharkey for the match report.

Minor Hurling:

Our minors were beaten by the Templederry Ballinahinch combo in the North ‘B’ championship. Our next game is against Borrisokane in Kilcolman on Thursday July 27th at 7pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

U14 & U16 Hurling:

Our run of underage bad luck continued with both or u16’s and u14’s tasting defeat last week also. Hard luck lads.

Junior A Hurling:

Our Juniors went  fighting away against Knockshe on Friday last 0-10 to 1-12. Hard luck lads.

Tipp draw:

Some footage from the fun at last Fridays Tipp county draw in Reidy’s of Newtown is available on the clubs facebook page and youtube account of Tim Floyd and the Tipp draw team who put on a slick and very entertaining show for us. Thanks to Bobby Reidy and all his staff for hosting us and all who helped out on the night. And well done to our winners Kevin McGrath and Thomas & Geraldine Bourke. We hope you enjoy your winnings.

Footage from the NIght:

Cúl Camp:

Niall O’Meara came to visit Burgess Cúl Camp on Wednesday last to our biggest ever attendance. 127 children were delighted to meet Niall who gave them all great hurling and camogie advice. We appreciate all the time Niall gave in Kilcoleman and it was fantastic to see him make his return to the field of play in the Tipperary colours at the weekend after his recent injury woes. Thanks also to all who helped out in Kilcoleman for the week and to all the Cúl camp coaches who made the week such a success for the children of the parish.

Club Lotto:

There was no winner of last Monday night’s club lotto jackpot. The nageumbers drawn were 7, 9, 15 & 17. The lucky dip winners were Reidy’s Staff, Pat Walsh Barbaha & Marguerite Ryan c/o Timmy Hogan. The sellers prize went to birthday boy Dinny Ryan (There was cake). This weeks draw was in Barry’s for a jackpot of €5,100.
