Burgess Gaa Notes

The Chaser:

We held our Chaser launch in front of a massive crowd in Reidy’s on Thursday evening last. The club is proud to announce that the response has been overwhelming. Along with the 8 exhibitors we now have in excess of 170 advertisers on board and counting! The focus now pivots to selling tickets for the show itself. Family tickets are available for €50 and will admit a family of four adults and single tickets can be had for €20. It promises to be a great night of family fun. We would like to thanks all who have worked so hard promoting this endeavour on behalf of the Burgess senior and juvenile club and the Burgess Duharra Camogie club.

Burgess 0-21 Kilruane 1-18 county senior league Match report

Kilruane made a blistering start to the game firing over three unanswered points in the first three minutes of the game against a stiff breeze. By the 15 minute mark Burgess trailed 6 points to 4. The Burgess scores coming from Brian Hogan, Ben Cooney and Eoin Leahy Hogan. The Burgess recovery continued in an entertaining and high scoring half which ended with the sides level at 11 points each. Kilruane though were lively in attack and forced two good saves from Niall McGrath in the Burgess goals.

The second half mirrored the first with four unanswered points in three minutes against the breeze. Eoin Tossy Hogan had a goal bound shot deflected over the bar to put Burgess 3 points up 17 to 14 on the twelfth minute only for his name sake on the opposite team to level the game with a cracking goal at the other end two minutes later. It was nip and tuck for the remainder of the game with Kilruane salvaging a draw with a pointed injury time free, the final score Burgess 0-21 Kilruane 1-18.

An entertaining game with plenty of scores and drama and great debut for two new faces on the Burgess senior team, minors Ben Cooney and Stephen Kirwan, both of whom got their names on the scoresheet with well taken points. Well done lads!
