Our juniors got themselves into the knockout phase of the north league after an absorbing dogfight in Newport at the weekend. We were up against it at half time after Newport made the most of home advantage and a stiff breeze to go in with a 1-11 to 0-8 lead. John O’Briens accuracy from placed balls was all that was keeping us in touch.

A string of bad wides early in the second half didn’t bode well but our troops but our lads upped the ante and a Ronan Tucker goal set the game up for an exciting finish. After a break in play for a nasty injury inflicted on David Seymour our boys rallied to the cause and lead for the first time in the game when it mattered most.
